Wiegand Alphanumeric
Updated
by Joe Julian
An alternative to Wiegand Hexadecimal, Wiegand Alphanumeric also reads all the data, but instead parses each byte as an ASCII character.
This should only be used if your card provider has informed you that your cards are encoded this way with ASCII characters – generic data will not contain valid characters and produce unreadable card numbers.
For a worked example:
- The raw data (in hex) is 43 41 52 44 4E 55 4D 42
- This translates to the ASCII characters CARDNUMB
- With the badge format ****** applied, this becomes CARDNU
