Testing Weigand cards on the T2
Updated
by Joe Julian
The T2 device provides a diagnostic screen to allow cards to be scanned using internal or external readers, and the contents of the cards examined. This should help choose the right configuration options for the reader and cards that you have on site.
To access this screen, press on the T2 home screen press Settings, enter your engineer PIN, then select Settings -> Maintenance tools -> Hardware -> Card reader.
If you have configured an external card reader in the D&AM portal, you will have the option to choose between internal and external readers.

To test a Wiegand reader, select the External reader. You will see a screen showing the current reader configuration received from the portal.

If this configuration doesn’t match what you are expecting to see, check your device is connected to the portal.
When you scan a card, it will be interpreted according to your chosen configuration and the results displayed at the bottom of the screen. If the resulting badge number doesn’t match the values you’re expecting, the display of the raw data and extracted card number should help work out the correct card settings.
